This form is intended for the assessment of clerks. You are to take into account the performance of the relevant clerk over the year, and also improvements from the last assessment. The criteria contained in the form are not intended to be exhaustive. Views should be expressed on any aspect of the clerk’s performance and development that are considered important.
The form asks for the clerk to be rated across a number of different dimensions. Please use the Rating Scale below to guide your assessment.

Quality of Work/ Output

1. Consider all the work/ output that you receive from the clerk. Consider its overall quality – is the work devoid of mistakes? Is it of a high standard not requiring any amendments or correction? Is the output ready to be used or sent out to clients? Please rate the overall quality of the work/ output.

2. Accuracy and thoroughness - is the clerk’s work correct, and devoid of mistakes? Does the clerk pay attention to details and careful to avoid careless mistakes e.g. spelling mistakes, error in details etc.

3. Timeliness – does the clerk complete his or her work promptly and need not be ‘chased’ for output?

Overall, does he or she have a positive attitude towards work and the firm? Please rate the overall attitude of the clerk.

5. Punctuality, attendance and dependability - does the clerk arrive on time? Is the clerk consistently available and on task as required by job description, assigned tasks, and colleagues, and will not go ‘MIA’?

6. Initiative - does the clerk proactively seek solution to problems? Can the clerk work with minimal direction, anticipate and meet organizational needs?

7. Personal management - Does the clerk have effective organization and planning skills e.g. is the file kept in an orderly fashioned? Is the clerk knowledgeable and always up to date on the status of the matter?

Client Service

8. Consider the clerk’s effectiveness from a client’s perspective – is the clerk responsive and accepted by clients? Does the clerk engage well with clients? Does the clerk deliver results to clients? Please rate the overall quality of client service from the clerk.
